This device allows the physical regeneration of a human body severely damaged or even dead until the age of about 800-900 years. When the sarcophagus is combined with the healing powers of a Goa'uld host, that is, the human being possessed by the symbiote , he can live in perfect health for thousands of years. The sarcophagus , however, has serious side effects , in fact, the Tok'ra are of the view that the sarcophagus makes extremely evil being who uses it , forcing it through a sort of strong dependency to use it all the time, as happened to Daniel Jackson. Within a certain amount of use the effects of the sarcophagus are reversible. The Tok'ra are convinced that the extreme wickedness of the Goa'uld resulting from intensive use of the sarcophagus . This was further confirmed by Daniel Jackson, who once ascended , he discovered that the sarcophagus kills the soul and blocks the natural ascension to a higher plane of existence
